Paintings are priced by time spent on them and there are a variety things that influence this – complexity of subject, numbers of colours and size of canvas.
Monochrome paintings are simpler, take less time and so cost less. As the intricacy of the design becomes more complicated the demands on time and care in matching colours, tone and shading will increase the price.
